This once-famous brewery was located on Blue Island Avenue in Chicago’s Southside. It was originally established in 1891 as The Bohemian Brewing Company and renamed Atlas Brewing Company in 1896.
Atlas focused on its hometown appeal. In the early 1940s they launched “Be a Chicago Booster, Consume Chicago Beers” advertising campaigns to fight the growing popularity of large breweries from Wisconsin and Missouri.
This design is from a 1940s Atlas Prager beer bottle label. Atlas Prager was their flagship brand from 1933 – 1962. It’s catchy slogan “Atlas Prager - Got It? Atlas Prager – Get It!” was known throughout Chicagoland.
