Bulldog Ale’s history can be traced back to 1899 when The Crockery City Brewing & Ice Company was established in East Liverpool, Ohio. Two on-site artesian wells provided all of the brewery’s water needs. Crockery City Brewing advertised that "Our beer is pure because we do not use filthy river water.”
On June 1, 1946, the brewery was purchased by Webb Corporation. Bulldog Ale was their best selling brand throughout the 1940s. However, by 1951, regional and national competition took its toll. Brewing operations officially ended February 9, 1952.
This design comes from a 1948 beer bottle label.
