F.W. COOK BREWING CO.
Evansville, IN (1853 – 1955)
In 1853 an initial investment of $350 was all it took for Frederick Cook and Jacob Rice to establish a brewery on NW 7th Street in Evansville. It was renamed The F.W. Cook Brewing Company in 1885.
In 1948 Tony Hulman of Indianapolis Motor Speedway fame bought a controlling interest in the brewery. It’s safe to say he had a hand in the 1950’s beer can design featured on this shirt.
This brewery closed in 1955 but Cook’s Goldblume (their flagship brand) was brewed at other sites until 1972.
