This design was inspired by a 1940's beer serving tray. Esslinger's "Little Man" was a beloved advertising icon in Philadelphia. The happy little waiter was featured on beer signs, cans, bottles, serving trays, coasters, and matchbooks.
George Esslinger established his brewery in 1879. It was one of Philly's most successful until it closed in 1964. |
