On April 7, 1933 "Happy Days Are Here Again" was a hit song and beer became legal for the first time in more than 13 years! An estimated 1.5 million barrels of beer were enjoyed by the exuberant masses in the first 24 hours!
Proprietors were retailing the 3.2 percent beer at five cents a glass or ten cents a bottle. Grocery stores sold beer for home consumption at $2 for a case of 24 pints. Night clubs had special parties and many cities hosted midnight celebrations to welcome the return of legal beer.
This design was inspired by banners that adorned many a tavern on that Happy Day!
